The Bethlehem Association
Bethlehem Association

Letter from the President

To all Members, Friends, Family and Fellow Bethlehemites:

Welcome to the Bethlehem Association and our new & improved website. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and update everyone on the current state of the Bethlehem Association.

I will begin by saying I am both honored and excited to be the new President. I want to thank our former president, Suheil Baddour, and the Board of Directors for their trust and confidence in electing me to this position.

I grew up in a family that was very involved in the Bethlehem Association and I always looked forward to the conventions and meeting fellow members from all over the world. Through the Associations social activities and events I built many life-long friendships which allowed me to develop a deep sense of pride for our Palestinian culture, traditions, and values.

In 2011, I wanted to give back so I got involved in a leadership role within the organization and was elected as the Vice President. During the past three years, I made it a personal goal to reach out and encourage more young adults to take on an active role within the Association and within their own local Arab American communities.

Since December, I have been working with the board to pull together a new Executive Committee. I am happy to announce that all positions have been filled by committed and motivated members (Meet our Executive Team).

Our objectives for the next two years is to revitalize the Association and focus efforts on the activities that were effective in growing the organization since inception.

  • We will be build awareness and promote our goal and work through word of mouth, social media, our new website, and a newsletter.
  • We will establish and support correspondents in key areas of the United States and encourage them to host activities in local communities and churches.
  • Reach out and encourage more young adults to take on an active role within the Association as the future of our organization depends on it.
  • Renewal of old memberships and the promotion and recruitment of new members, with an effort to target our younger generation

Last but not least, I want to remind everyone about our mission to support the charities & organizations in our hometowns of Bethlehem, Beit Jala, and Beit Sahour. We need your support and participation to build up the Bethlehem Association. We cannot do it without you!

If anyone has any coments or suggestions, please email us at bethlehemassoc@gmail.com. Looking forward to meeting everyone at our events.

Sincerely,

Maher Elhihi, MBA
